Why Karuna exists.

Karuna means compassion in action. The agency was built on the belief that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities belong in homes, with families who know them, not in institutions where they are managed.

Twenty-something years later, we are still building toward that. Every host home partnership we form is a piece of that larger work. We are glad you are taking a moment to consider it with us.
